The Philippine Society of NSTP Educators, Inc. (PSNEI) conducted the Zonal Orientation/Reorientation of National Service Training Program (NSTP) Educators in Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Naga City & Iriga City on May 23, 2018 at Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) Auditorium, Pili, Camarines Sur. The activity aims to equip future NSTP implementers the knowledge and skills needed to perform their functions as NSTP educators.
The event is participated by private and public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Cams. Sur, Cams. Norte, Naga City and Iriga City. The NSTP Director of Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) Dr. Pimeh Tolentino presented the Statement of Purpose of the gathering. The president of CBSUA Dr. Georgina Bordado welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of NSTP to HEIs because the three components of NSTP (ROTC, CWTS, LTS) also serves the functions of the HEIs. CHEDRO V, Chief Administrative Officer Salvador Mediavillo explained to the participants the reason for the conduct of the orientation and restated CHED's role in the process. NSTP Regional Coordinator of CHEDRO V Dr. Manuel C. Mendoza had a comprehensive discussion of the NSTP Act of 2001 (RA 9163) and CMO No. 27, Series of 2015 (Guidelines and Procedures on the Issuance of NSTP Serial Number). President of PSNEI Bicol Prof. Charlie P. Nacario discussed the Minimum Standards that NSTP Educators should know before being able to serve as NSTP implementers and a more intensive discussion of NSTP components. The training Officer of OCD Bicol Jezzar Adornado, explained about RA 10121, otherwise known as the Philippine Disaster and Risk Reduction Management System. An open forum followed in the afternoon where participants raised issues & concerns about the topics discussed.
The event is expected to ensure uniform understanding of RA 9163 , RA 10121 & CMO 27, series of 2015 among NSTP implementers specially the new NSTP educators for them to be qualified and confident for the smooth implementation of the NSTP Act.
