Environmental Governance Training for Coastal LGU Heads in Camarines Norte

𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐨𝐥 𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧, 𝐈𝐧𝐜., in cooperation with the 𝐂𝐍𝐒𝐂-𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐈𝐄𝐆) headed the 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐆𝐔-𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞 (𝟗) 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟑-𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, with the theme “𝘎𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱: 𝘌𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘎𝘜-𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘌𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦”.
The momentous event was attended by the following LGUs of the Province of Camarines Norte, representing department heads: Basud, Capalonga, Daet, Jose Panganiban, Mercedes, Paracale, Sta. Elena, Talisay, and Vinzons. The Honorable Governor of the Province strongly supported this initiative to encourage green leadership among LGU Department Heads, which would help them achieve environmental goals and promote sustainable development.
𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟏: The full support and cooperation of Tanggol Kalikasan, Inc. and CNSC-IEG made it possible for the training designs and activity idea to successfully meet the needs of the participants and an ocular visit for the venue has been conducted. Before the event, communication letters were sent to the concerned LGUs to disseminate information. Afterward, a training program on environmental governance was held to upskill and reskill participants while integrating Masbate City’s best environmental practices.
𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐: The “Basic Environmental Law Enforcement Skills and Procedures” activity was led by the CNSC-IEG to encourage the development of networks among LGU Department Heads to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, resources, and experiences in environmental issues with attainable, long-term solutions. The participants actively contributed to the said event and various ideas and experiences gained from collaboration in the policy drafting and ordinance writeshop.
𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟑: Tanggol Kalikasan Inc. and CNSC-IEG led the Knowledge Learning Exchange initiatives in the marine environments at the Bugsayon Marine Sanctuary, Pawa Mangrove Park, Solid Waste Management (SWM) Processing Facility, and Buntod Marine Reef Sanctuary to enforce environmental laws, rules, and policies.
In summary, the 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 aspires to promote the capacity of the LGU officials to carry out environmental laws and regulations by raising their knowledge about contemporary environmental challenges and trends on a local and global level.
