About the College

The College of Business and Public Administration is now on its 22nd year of existence, hence, it continuously strives to sustain what it has started in its pursuit for academic excellence. To realize the CBPA’s objectives in congruence with the institution’s vision and mission, the College incessantly strengthen its curricular programs and resource capabilities to meet the emerging demands and remain responsive to the needs of the fast-changing times. It is formerly known as School of Business Administration which was formally established in 1999 and it started offering ladderized programs leading to BSBA major in Marketing, Economics, Entrepreneurial Management and Cooperative. In the year 2001, it was renamed to College of Business and Public Administration and offered various curricular programs attuned to the needs of the society. In 2003, the College started to offer BS in Office Administration, BS Information Technology, BS in Accountancy, and Bachelor in Food Service Management. For more than two decades, the College has produced professionals who had given the institution honor and prestige through various achievements in their respective fields of specialization. They are the following designated dean of the college (1999-2001) Dr. Pimeh C. Tolentino – (2001-2006) Dr. Nora J. Macasinag – (2006-2010) Dr. Emilia Bergonio – (2010-2011) Dr. Nora J. Macasinag – (2011-2013) Dr. Pimeh C. Tolentino – (2013-2020) Dr. Nora J. Macasinag – (2020-2021) Dr. Ma. Angela Josefa G. Pioquinto – (2021) to Assistant Professor Luvy S. Asis and (2021-present) Dr. Gehana D. Lamug. Currently, the CBPA faculty workforce has a total of fourty-two (42) dynamic mentors: 33 are on permanent status, six (7) COS and one (2) part-time status. In addition, a Guidance counselor, Cashier, Registrar, Supply and Property Custodian, Bookkeeper, Office clerk and three student-assistants are likewise integral part of the administrative staff of the college. With human resource development as the vital component in the delivery of quality education to its clienteles, the College prioritizes the hiring of faculty with appropriate degree aligned in their respective field of specialization. Amongst the 42 faculty members five or 12% holders of relevant doctorate degree, 16 or 38% are currently taking up their doctorate program, 33 or 79% of faculty are graduates of their master’s degree and the remaining 7 or 17% are still taking up their master’s program aline with their baccalaureate degree. In AY 2023-2024 and 2nd Semester of 2024, the CBPA has a total enrolment of 1, 855. The College is persistent in providing quality education to its clientele through the nine (9) curricular programs that it offers- Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA), Bachelor in Public Administration (BPA), Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM), Bachelor of Science Office Administration (BSOA), Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majors in Marketing Management (BSBA-MM), Financial Management (BSBA-FM), Human Resource Management (BSBA-HRM) and Business Economics. The Bachelor in Public Administration passed the Level III accreditation conducted by the AACCUP last February 2020. The BSBA major in Financial Management and the Human Resource Management undergone Level III Phase 2 accreditation last December 7-9, 2022, thereby contributing to the attainment of the CNSC’s vision for Program Accreditation. On a relevant ground, despite the challenges faced by the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy graduates in their licensure examination brought by the changes in curriculum and the wider topic coverage, the College performance in the Certified Public Accountants’ Licensure Examination (CPALE) has shown consistent passing rates and exceeds the national passing rate.

Dean of the College

GEHANA LAMUG, DBA

She is an Associate Professor I, a researcher and an extensionist. A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Entrepreneurial Management, Master in Business Administration and Doctor of Business Administration.

She is the current Dean of the College of Business and Public Administration and program chairperson of Master in Business Administration. She became a faculty lecturer in Petra Christian University, Surabaya, Indonesia during the Asia Summer Program in 2019. From working in a corporate world of telecommunications, she became one of the agents of change by developing future entrepreneurs. She is teaching entrepreneurship courses, a gender and development advocate, a mother of two and a passionate woman in all the things she works on. She aims to influence other people positively through teaching, research and community undertakings.

To produce competent, innovative, globally competitive and development-oriented graduates imbued with a deep sense of moral and spiritual values responsive to the fast changing needs of the society geared towards quality life.

OBJECTIVES OF CBPA CURRICULAR PROGRAMS

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

  1. Produce graduates that will assume professional positions in the government bureaus, non-government business organizations and industries by providing them with theoretical and practical learning experiences needed in real-work environment.
  2. Develop positive attitudes and values necessary in carrying out their social responsibility in the exercise of their profession.
  3. Provide intellectually deserving but financially-handicapped students with access to degree programs in all areas of administration through an expanded scholarship grants and financial assistance.
  4. Encourage research for the improvement and attunement of the government business curricular to the needs of the society and to the national growth for socio-economic development.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ACCOUNTANCY

  1. Provides students integrated knowledge, skills, professional values, ethics and attitudes across topics and disciplines to address many-sided complex situations typical of professional demands.
  2. Simulate students to develop professionals skepticism and professional judgement.
  3. Prepare the students to be future accountants who are globally-competitive.
  4. Cultivate student’s ability to make strategic decisions logically based on multi-national analysis of corporate structure, strategic, finance and so forth.
  5. Provide students an integrating framework and experiences for understanding the roles of accountants, their functions and how they fit the context of business and larger environment.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ENTREPPRENEURSHIP

  1. Upgrade the curriculum to be attuned with their requirements of the real world.
  2. Enhance the professional competence of the students both in the conceptual and technical aspect of the discipline.
  3. Produce entrepreneurs with enterprising spirit who will create pace in country’s growth.
  4. Produce graduates not as job seekers but as job makers.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN FOOD SERVICE MANAGEMENT

  1. Provide basic knowledge and principles of organization and management in their application for a successful food service operation.
  2. Develop skilled manpower as food service supervisors and as an entrepreneur in ensuring consumer’s safety.
  3. Provide career options for students with special interest in food service management either for government/private employment or self-employment. 

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN OFFICE ADMINISTRATION

  1. Develop efficient and effective office worker in private and in government bureaus by providing them with a solid foundation both theoretical and practical structures and objectives of office administration.

  2. Develop competence in their chosen field of specialization for immediate and gainful employment.

  3. Develop positive values necessary in carrying out social economic and civic responsibility.

  4. Produce graduates who can set up and apply suitable and practical approaches in delivering the social, economic information and technological requirements of the office.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN OFFICE ADMINISTRATION

  1. Develop efficient and effective leaders in government bureaus by providing them with a solid foundation both theoretical and practical of the structures and objectives of public administration.
  2. Produce graduates who can set up and apply suitable and practical approaches in delivering the social, economic information and technological requirements of the public.
  3. Equip students’ critical and analytical problem-solving skills.
  4. Inculcate values of accountability, service and integrity among prospective public servants.
  5. Develop a citizenry that is potent for nation building and imbued with humanist internationalism.
