Sazon was hired as a Contract of Service (COS) Instructor on August 24, 2020, under the Bachelor of Agricultural Technology (BAT) Department in the CNSC Labo Campus. He passed the Career Service Examination Professional of CSC (2003) and the Licensure Examination for Agriculturists (LEA) of PRC (2017).   He was designated Animal Production Manager and Layer Project In-Charge in the Production Division of Labo Campus. He is also one of the proponents of four approved project proposals in the Income Generating Project (IGP) of the institution and one project proposal with DA-ACEF.

Currently, he serves as the Production Division Manager at CANR, where he is responsible for the efficient and reliable operation of the Income Generating Projects (IGPs) on campus, under the supervision of the Production Division Head. His role involves planning and organizing farm production schedules, coordinating with the Production Director, and ensuring that all IGP aspects are completed within budget and meet targets. His expertise is in farm business management, agricultural marketing, farming systems, principles of crop production, organic agriculture, agriculture, and business finance.

MANILYN VILLAFLORES – DASCO

Before her tenure at CNSC, she was an educator at the Department of Education, specifically at Paracale National High School.   Her academic journey has been rigorous and rewarding. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Science at Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), where she also earned her Master of Science in Agricultural Education. Her dedication to education and agricultural science is demonstrated by her success in passing both the Licensure Examination for Agriculturists (LEA) and the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), which she took with just a month of interval, in July and September 2012, respectively.   In addition to her formal education, she has obtained National Certificates (NC) in various fields related to agriculture, including Organic Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Production, and Agricultural Crops Production. These certifications have equipped her with a broad and versatile skill set, allowing her to effectively contribute to both the academic and practical aspects of agricultural science. Since 2021, she has had the honor of serving as the College Secretary of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. In this role, she has utilized her administrative and academic skills to support the college’s mission and vision, fostering an environment that promotes learning and research.   In addition to her administrative duties, she is actively involved in guiding students in their research endeavors. She currently serves as a research adviser to 12 students for their undergraduate thesis. This role allows her to mentor and inspire the next generation of researchers and professionals in the field of agriculture. Furthermore, she is an adviser to several school organizations including the Supreme Student Council, where she provides guidance and support to students in their extracurricular activities.   Throughout her career, her unwavering passion for teaching and dedication to the field of agriculture have been her driving forces. She is committed to nurturing the next generation of agriculturists and educators, and she strives to inspire her students through her academic pursuits and professional experiences.As she continues her journey in the field of education and agricultural science, she remains focused on advancing knowledge, promoting sustainable practices, and contributing to the development and growth of the agricultural sector.

IRVIN MUSCA

College of Agriculture and Natural Resources View the latest information about the faculty of CANR IRVIN MUSCA Assistant Professor I Educational Attainment Master of Agriculture in Agronomy Kyungpook National University, South Korea Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Agronomy Specialized in Crop Production and Management University of the Philippines Los Banos About Irvin Oquias Bequillo transferred to the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) as Instructor I on August 1, 2019, from the National Farmer Scientists Training Program (FSTP) as Research, Extension, and Professional Staff (REPS) of the Agricultural Systems Institute (ASI) in the College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS), University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB). He holds a Civil Service Professional Eligibility and a License Agriculturist. He was designated as Crop Production Manager, Special Crop Production In-Charge, and Manager of the Technology and Livelihood Center (TLC) at Campus B of CNSC-Labo. He also trained as an Internal Auditor for Quality Assurance under the Production Team as a Member and Team Leader. He is the current Extension Services Coordinator the College Coordinator of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) and a Component Faculty Implementer of the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS). His experiences as a Volunteer from the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, UPLB made him a Focal Person for the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) of CNSC to promote volunteerism among students, faculty, employees, and alumni.    Mr. Bequillo is a member of various organizations such as the Philippine Association of Agriculturists (PAA)-Canarium ovatum Chapter, UP REPS Society, UP Society of Agronomy Alumni, UPLB Alumni Association, and different Cooperatives like the Laguna Prime MPC (UPLB CDC), Camarines Norte Permaculture Agriculture Cooperative (CaNoPeACe), Holy Rosary MPC, Jose Panganiban Primary Hospital Cooperative, Labo Progressive MPC, Talisayon MPC and the President of the College of Agriculture Faculty and Employees Association (CAFEA).   His expertise in the different farming systems nationwide, agronomy, crop production, and management particularly his experiences in the community for documentation of the Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices of the Batak Tribe in Roxas, Palawan made him closer to the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) where he was assigned in different community outreach and extension projects such as the Mangyan & Tau Buid Tribes in Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Aetas of Bamban, Tarlac and Mabalacat, Pampanga and all the farmers of the different FSTP Associations/Cooperatives organized nationwide. He also served as the Technical, Admin and Finance Staff Pambansang Inisyatibo sa Binhi at Likas-kayang Pagsasaka sa Pilipinas (PABINHI Pilipinas, Inc.) or National Initiative on Seeds and Sustainable Agriculture in the Philippines in partnership with the Resource Efficient Agricultural Production (REAP)-Canada under the Agriculture Fund Environment and Sustainable Development Program (ESDP), Projects and Innovation Unit – Canadian Partnership Branch, Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). He also served as Technical Assistant of the Volens Itinerans-University of the Philippines(UP) Education Research Program(ERP)/Center for Integrative & Development Studies (CIDS)-Saragpunta Federation of Northern Tagbanua Communities collaborative program on sustainable development in Calamian Tagbanua, Northern Palawan assisted in the implementation of Palay-Aralan cum Gulayan of the Technical Working Group in Agriculture of the project.

ANALYN BERTULFO – ASIS

College of Agriculture and Natural Resources View the latest information about the faculty of CANR ANALYN BERTULFO – ASIS Assistant Professor II Educational Attainment Master of Science in Animal Science Central Bicol State University of Agriculture – Pili Campus (Major in Animal Science) Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Central Bicol State University of Agriculture – Pili Campus About Analyn Bertulfo–Asis began her teaching career in 2013 at LSPU – Siniloan Campus as a part-time instructor and in 2015 she was hired at the CNSC – CANR as Instructor I. She holds licenses as an Agriculturist (2009) and a Professional Teacher (2014). She is actively involved in professional development, having attended numerous technical training programs and workshops focused on sustainable agriculture, poultry, and livestock management, product processing, and teaching methodologies. These experiences have earned her certifications in Animal Production (Poultry-Chicken) NC II, Animal Production (Swine) NC II, and Trainers Methodology Level I. Her expertise led her to become one of the technical experts for the DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Project, assisting 4Ps members in various municipalities of Camarines Norte with backyard poultry and swine raising. In line with this, she co-authored two copyrighted IEC materials, which were used in this project.   Her commitment to excellence in teaching and her proactive involvement in training and seminars underscore her dedication to advancing agricultural education and practices. Her areas of expertise include animal science, animal nutrition, animal production and management (poultry and swine), and animal products processing.   Furthermore, Ms. Asis is also a member of the Philippine Association of Agriculturists (PAA) and the Philippine Society of Animal Science, and she is an alumna of the International Training Center on Pig Husbandry. She has also showcased her academic leadership by advising 21 thesis groups and serving on various undergraduate thesis evaluation committees. She has also been the Lead Trainer for the Trainers’ Methodology Course at CNSC. Currently, she is the chairperson of the BAT Program.

ARLIN C. ALEGRE

ALEGRE Director, QPRDI / Associate Professor 3 Educational Attainment Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Science Major in Horticulture Central Bicol State University of Agriculture Master of Science in Plant Protection Major in Plant Pathology Central Bicol State University of Agriculture Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major: Plant Pathology University of the Philippines at Los Baňos About Arlene Cornel Alegre was hired as Laboratory Inspector in CNSC-Main Campus in October 1, 2003.  Two years after completing her Master’s degree in 2007, she was promoted to a teaching position in 2009. Consequently, she immediately pursued her Doctoral education and completed the degree in 2013.   As an instructor, she was designated to various assignments as College Secretary, Research Coordinator, College Researcher, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (April 2018 to January 2021), QPRDC Program Leader (2021- Sept. 2024), Project staff of Pili-Nicer project (Enhancing Pili Propagation and Distribution System; Geo-mapping and characterization of pili farms in four major producing provinces of Bicol region).  Earlier In 2014, she authored the Establishment of the Diagnostic Laboratory at CNSC-Labo Campus (BOT Approved Agenda # 24-S2014) under the presidency of Dr. Monsito G. Ilarde. The laboratory was completed in 2016 and provides diagnostic services to thesis students, faculty, and other entities that require the same services. The Laboratory was later converted to a COVID facility during the pandemic and was not able to provide services during the period.  In 2016 she was one of the faculty researchers from CNSC who worked in collaboration with the Visayas State University under a DOST-funded research program on Queen Pineapple (Enhancing Productivity and Marketability of queen pineapple). This project aroused her interest as a researcher and as a native of Camarines Norte to focus on studies on Queen Pineapple. Realizing the need for the improvement of our Queen Pineapple she authored the Establishment of Queen Pineapple Center in 2019 which was approved the following year by the NICER program under the DOST Science for Change. It was then, that the CNSC was recognized as the center of studies on Queen Pineapple in the country. The program consists of six (6) projects with a total fund of Php 26, 835,000.00 of which the last three projects will be ending in September this year. Alongside the QPRDC, she realizes the need for an appropriate research laboratory and so, in September 2020, her proposal for funding the “Facility Improvement of the QPRDC” (formerly the CNSC Diagnostic Laboratory) was approved by DOST-PCAARRD with a fund amounting to Php 5,000,000.00 (DOST AO No. 011, series of 2020 and BOT resolution No. 69 s.2022). The facility was inaugurated on April 18, 2024, and houses three laboratories- Molecular laboratory, Water and Soil Laboratory, and the existing Diagnostic laboratory. In July 2023, the BOT approved her proposal for the Institutionalization of the QPRDC (BOT Resolution No. 74 s. 2023) now referred to as the Queen Pineapple Research and Development Institute. Accordingly, she was designated as the Director of the institute effective October 25, 2023, under Board Resolution 118 s. 2023.  

EDUARDO M. ABAD, EdD

Graduate School View the latest information about the faculty of GS EDUARDO M. ABAD, EdD Dean Educational Attainment Doctor of Education 2016 – Present About Dr. Eduardo M. Abad holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Management, a Master in Educational Leadership and Management, and a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies. He has also completed training programs in educational leadership, management, research, and evaluation at the Development Academy of the Philippines. As a social constructivist, he believes in the power of education to shape people’s mindsets, character, success, and social progress. He has authored various community-based extension projects that empower marginalized and vulnerable communities, including Indigenous cultural minorities, persons deprived of liberty, and the youth. Due to his work and advocacies, he became a two-time winner of the Institution’s ‘Gintong Parangal’ Best in Extension Services award in 2019 and 2020. His efforts and best practices led to his selection as the official contender for the Government Best Practices Recognition (GBPR) in 2022 by the Development Academy of the Philippines. As a dedicated scholar and lover of wisdom, he made a significant contribution through his research published in an international refereed journal, focusing on community engagement, instructional tool development, educational management, and socio-cultural landscapes. He serves as a peer reviewer for a nationally circulated research journal and a technical evaluator for research and extension proposals at CNSC. Additionally, as a member of the Quality Assurance Team, he functions as an Internal Quality Auditor for the Institution. His extensive experience and expertise in educational management led to his accreditation as an AACCUP accreditor for Level III and Level IV education programs. He is also a lecturer and reviewer for the Licensure Examination for Teachers, specializing in professional education and social studies. His dedication to education, leadership, extension services, and research culminated in his appointment as the Research Director of Camarines Norte State College in 2021. In 2022, he further advanced his career by becoming the Dean of the Graduate School, a position he holds to the present day.

FERNANDO H. CORATCHEA, Ph.D.

Babagay serves as the Dean of the College of Engineering, where she exemplifies both leadership and dedication to the role. She is a licensed Electrical Engineer and Registered Master Electrician with Master in Engineering degree.Her professional journey began as lead technician in a solar power company in Laguna. In 2011, she transitioned to academia as an instructor in COS status while carrying out her role as a project engineer in numerous electrification projects outside the institution. In addition, she also has taken on several key administrative roles within the academic community, including OSS Coordinator, Learning and Development Coordinator, Alumni Coordinator and as an active member of the BAC Technical Working Group Committee in Infrastructure. Beyond her administrative and technical roles, Engr. Babagay has made a significant impact as a coach, leading quiz teams to consistent victory in academic competitions, a testament to her mentorship and guidance. Her ability to inspire and motivate students is a hallmark of her educational philosophy.  In the realm of research, Dean Babagay is deeply interested in the field of renewable energy. Her work focuses on exploring and developing sustainable energy solutions, with a particular emphasis on solar energy and alternative sources of power. Her academic excellence is further underscored by her outstanding performance in the Registered Master Electrician Licensure Examination, where she secured 6th place.  At the core of her teaching philosophy is a belief in the transformative power of passion—passion for the academe, for the subjects taught, and for the students themselves. Dean Babagay sees this passion as the driving force behind an educator’s ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential. In her role as Dean, Engr.
