CNSC and Tanggol Kalikasan Inc. conducts Three Day Fishery Law Enforcement Training to Bantay Dagat Volunteers of Daet and Paracale
Over 20 Bantay Dagat volunteers from the municipalities of Daet and Paracale participated in a three-day Fishery Law Enforcement Training held from July 29 to 31, 2025. This initiative aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of fishery and environmental laws, improve enforcement and investigation skills, and empower Bantay Dagat volunteers in their role as frontliners in marine resource conservation
The training, conducted under the Environmental Justice Sector Reform Project, featured lectures and practical sessions on key environmental laws and enforcement protocols.
Legal experts Atty. Fritzielyn Palmiery and Atty. Mark Martinez served as resource persons, tackling topics such as the Amended Fisheries Code of the Philippines, Wildlife Act, Chainsaw Act, Mining Act, NIPAS Act, Forestry Code, and rules on arrest, search, seizure, and detention.
Paracale Mayor Romeo Y. Moreno and CNSC’s Vice President for Research and Extension Dr. Rosalie A. Almadrones, and Extension Services Director Dr. Girly H. Naval graced the activity, expressing their gratitude to the organizers and affirming their respective institutions’ full support for community-based marine protection
