Unlocking Bright Futures View the Latest News and Updates of CNSC CNSC Enters Top 10 in AUAP International Debate; Mercedes Campus Marks First International Competition By: CNSC PICRO, 2025 Two teams from Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) secured Top 10 finishes in the 2nd Student English Debate Competition (SEDC) organized by the Association of Universities in Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), held at Rizal Technological University on April 7–8, 2025. Representing CNSC-Mercedes Campus were Paula Joy B. Oliver (2nd Year, BS Fisheries), Aiser B. Tabora (1st Year, BS Fisheries), and Anthony Bernard B. Maravillas (1st Year, BS Fisheries), mentored by Language and Literature Instructor and Coach Shena Mae D. Opeda. Their placement in the Top 10 marks a historic milestone as Mercedes Campus participated in an international academic competition for the first time. Meanwhile, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) team was composed of Niel D. Alera and Aisle Mitch D. Angara (4th Year, AB English Language Studies) and Patrick Joe C. Bañega (1st Year, AB ELS), under the guidance of Head Coach and ELS Program Chairperson Marianne Mae I. Jalgalado, with Assistant Coaches Glen Estacion (Sociology Faculty) and Aliza Bianca Emaas (ELS Faculty). Both CNSC teams demonstrated outstanding communication, teamwork, and analytical skills, earning recognition among the top debate performers in the Asia-Pacific region.

Unlocking Bright Futures View the Latest News and Updates of CNSC COLLEGE OF EDUCATION PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS DOMINATES 2025 BICOL REGIONAL STUDENT TEACHERS’ CONGRESS By: CNSC PICRO, 2025 Student-teachers from CNSC – College of Education emerged as top performers at the recent 2025 Bicol Regional Student Teachers’ Congress, held March 28 at the Bicol University College of Education. The event, organized by the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) Bicol Chapter, gathered the region’s most promising future educators under the theme “Empowering Tomorrow’s Educators: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities.” The congress aims to highlight the role of student-teachers in addressing the dynamic demands of the education sector. The second leg of the congress took place on April 2 at the Albay Astrodome in Legazpi City, featuring discussions on resilience, innovation, and adaptability in education. A major highlight of the event was the Search for the Ten Outstanding Student Teachers (TOST)—a rigorous competition assessing E-portfolio submissions (25%), demonstration teaching (40%), and panel interviews (35%). CNSC Dominates TOST 2025CNSC student-teachers delivered outstanding performances in both categories of the TOST competition.In the Elementary Level, Arriane O. Avellana (Bachelor of Elementary Education) secured the top spot with her dynamic lesson delivery and innovative teaching strategies. She was mentored by Prof. Jeanette C. Daniel.In the Secondary Level, Isaac Gainever M. Carmelina (Bachelor of Secondary Education – Sciences) also clinched first place. He was guided by Prof. Iris Eboña and Prof. Aldrin Jake Asis, showcasing excellent content mastery and effective classroom techniques. Excellence in Educational Research CNSC also topped the 2025 Student Teachers’ Research Competition. The team of Erica S. Cortez, Chain D. Habana, and John Paolo R. Rafer bagged first place with their study, “Development and Evaluation of Kimikapp: A Web-Based Learning Application for Enhancing Grade 9 Least Mastered Competencies in Chemistry at Camarines Norte National High School.” Their research, under the mentorship of Prof. Glency A. Perez, explored technology-driven strategies to address learning gaps in science education. Awards and ScholarshipsIn recognition of their achievements, all three student-researchers received 50-percent scholarships from the Carl Balita Review Center and 5,000 pesos. Meanwhile, Avellana and Carmelina, the TOST Winners in elementary and secondary categories, were awarded full CBRC scholarships and 5,000 pesos each. De La Cruz with Executive Assistant Nicole Anne G. Panotes. It was developed in collaboration with Vice President for Research and Extension Dr. Rosalie A. Almadrones, who was then the Program Chairperson of the Development Communication (DevCom) program and is now the project leader. The team also includes Dr. Melanie Bacuno, a senior faculty member of DevCom. The establishment of the ETIDC aims to:1. Create, develop, integrate and utilize effective tools, appropriate technologies, new techniques, online curriculum and innovative instructional design processes, and procedures using the broadcast, digital and ICT-based technologies that identify and integrates emerging technologies in the teaching and learning environment;2. Conduct teacher development and training; and3. Provide professional consultancy and technical support services on project management and project utilization and implementation related to the services of the center.4. Serve as an extension service through the airing of Project T.E.L.L. This grant is a significant boost to the College’s efforts to upgrade the teaching-learning environment, enhance faculty development, and ultimately improve the quality of education provided to students.

The award is CHED’s recognition of CNSC’s consistent upholding of the highest standard in ensuring the quality of pre-service teacher education programs, following its minimum standards, program accreditation, and excellent performance in the Board of Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT).

The two-part celebration, held at CNSC grounds, gathered administrative officials, faculty, staff, and students for a day of reflection and camaraderie. The event commenced with an opening program led by Faculty Trustee Rene N. Abrera, followed by a message from Dr. Maria Cristina C. Azuelo, Vice President for Administration and Finance, representing CNSC President Dr. Marlo M. De La Cruz. A wreath-laying ceremony was conducted by CNSC administrative officials to honor the former Congressman Renato M. Unico, Sr., while a video presentation by the Public Information and Community Relations Office (PICRO) showcased CNSC’s journey over the years. The program concluded with closing remarks from CPAU Head Sigfred V. Aler, representing Rhodaviv V. Avila, OSSD Director.
