Three government institutions collaborated to build strong partnership in order to make inclusive education a reality. The Provincial Government of Camarines Norte, Camarines Norte State College and DepEd Camarines Norte conducted the 1st Provincial Summit on Inclusive Education with the theme, “Making Inclusive Education a Reality in the Community” on September 6-7, 2017 at the CNSC Social Hall, Daet, Camarines Norte.
The summit intends to provide venue to clarify issues and concerns on the realization of inclusive education. It sought to bring into one event various stakeholders in the province to discuss ways to implement a relevant inclusive education in their communities.
Topics to be discussed are Inclusive Education: Why does it need to happen?; Sharing Good Practices, Challenges and Opportunities on Education Policies; IAMYOU, The Campaign for Inclusion; The Philippines Inclusive Education Framework; and Making Inclusive Education Work in the Tertiary Level: The St. Benilde Experience. Speakers are from partner agencies: De La Salle- College of Saint Benilde, Camarines Norte Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), The Teacher’s Gallery (TTG), Basic Education Transformation Program (BEST), United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF). There were also personal sharing from PWDs who excelled in their respective fields.
It is hoped that this effort to bring together parents, children, teachers, and community to work together to ensure that PWDs can access their right to equal educational opportunities.
