The newly elected Federated Faculty Association Incorporated Officers, headed by Sir Jesse O. Opeña, Jr. was inducted by Dr. Rusty G. Abanto, the College President on August 25, 2017 at the Graduate School Audio-Visual Room. Officers from different Colleges and Campuses attended the event to show their support for the Association.
In his message, Dr. Abanto communicated his plans for CNSC, specifically the goal for universityhood (the intention to be a SUC Level 5) and the role of the Administration and the Association as partners toward this end. The President also reported that a resolution was passed to include the Faculty Association President in the Board of Trustees, thus finally gaining a representative for the interests and concerns of the CNSC teachers.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Opeña expressed his awe to the idealism, youthfulness, and dynamism of the President to which he hopes to match. The Faculty President said that there are many concerns of the faculty that were neglected which he hopes to help shed some light. Both parties articulated both their concerns, expectation, and collaboration with each other==marking the beginning of a productive relationship between two pillars of the CNSC community.
